Bruce Cohen | FOUR BC

Bruce Cohen | FOUR BC
I spent the weekend listening to a new album from Bruce Cohen. It's rare to come across a musician that has such a deep vision for music and can captivate the sound around you. This new album is going to transport you out of your ordinary day-to-day mentality and take you to place in your mind has been waiting for you to visit. A place where you can let your imagination run wild and break free from the repetition of life.

Right off the press of the play button, you're greeted by the uplifting rhythms of the premier track, "HAUS."  This track will get you in the groove and set the mood for album. It is so important for the first track to set the mood of the album and this track has all the right ingredients for a lead-off track. You'll find depth in the music that reaches far beyond the capabilities of your stereo system. Four BC is an instrumental journey through the vast untraveled landscape of your mind. Each track takes you soaring across a soundscape that has layers of intricacy rooted deep in rhythm. Once the music starts, your ears will be treated like royalty and bathed in the sonic aura of modern music.

It's not everyday that I come across music that captivates me in such a way that I listen to it on repeat. This album has lasting power and will find a permanent spot in many playlists and music libraries. Fans of Ian Pooley, Broadcast, Moby, BT, and Brian Eno will find this album to be a new juggernaut in their music collection. The undertones of EDM mixed in with the Dance Rhythms will be a perfect fit for any social gathering. Music that can fill a room and not take over the conversation is like a diamond in the rough. Adorn yourself with the sound of Bruce Cohen and get your mind, body, and soul in motion with his new album, FOUR BC.

Track Seven Band | EP Release

Track Seven Band is making waves in the music industry. I'm impressed with the hybrid composition of Rap and Rock. There's even some flavors of Jazz with the piano injections.

Lyrics are the heartbeat of many songs and this band has a lyricist that is pumping the life into the music. Ever since I heard Body Count back in the 90's, I've always been intrigued by the infusion of rock and rap music. There is a balance and a harmony that fuels the fire of emotion for the listeners and the musicians. This band has that same energy and the music is well composed.

If you like new music and want to vibe to something with a new twist, then this is worth a listen:

RJ Comer | The Moon Ain't Fallen on Me Yet

RJ Comer sings from the depths of his soul. His approach to music is passionate and shrouded in confidence. His new single, "The Moon Ain't Fallen on Me Yet" has more than just a story to tell. It's a testament of the human soul and the drive to keep on living life to the fullest potential.

The opening line, "Angels love me, but the Devil owns me..." sets the stage for this song to paint the intense drama that is about to be unfolded. The music has intense dynamics that keep the mood of the song captivating, which only adds more drama to the atmosphere. RJ's vocals cut through the mix and bring you right into his world where you are face-to-face with him as he tells his story. The style of his performance is reminiscent of the beloved soul rock tracks from the 70's, but with a much more modern approach to mixing and presentation.

Fans of Blues, Rock, Johnny Cash, Neil Diamond, The Doors, & Urge Overkill will find RJ Comer speaks your music. His style of music will appeal to your desire for some new tunes without straying too far from your favorites. In fact, he will most likely be joining your favorites playlist. The New Position | Cheating Death

The dynamic rock trio, The New Position, has released another smash hit! "Cheating Death" is a pillar of emotion and delivers a straight shot to to the gut. The new music video for the song is just another crowing achievement for the trio that continues to reinvent themselves and make waves in the music industry.

The video has a shocking fact, it was filmed at the Evergreen Cemetery in Oakland, CA. This is the famous burial ground for all the damned souls of the Jonestown Massacre.

Modest Goddess delivers another stellar performance on this track. The lyrics are once again deep and insightful. Her vision of music is unmatched in the industry and she continues to impress music critics around the globe. She is a true pioneer in the women's movement among musicians. Her passion and dedication to composing and performing original music has lead many young women to pursuit their dreams and aspirations in the music industry.

Tabitha Elkins | Edge of Nowhere

Tabitha Elkins has released a new single, "Edge of Nowhere" for her new album. The song has a vintage Janis Joplin feel that has waves of emotion packed into the music. Her lyrics convey deep emotion and bring a meaningful perspective to how life can affect all of us. The funky bass line drives the track and gets your foot tapping to the rhythm.

She is a determined musician that pours every bit of her soul into the music. The ambiance of the music sets the stage for the dramatic performance and envelopes the message. This song has a great Motown rhythm similar to Bonnie Raitt & Sheryl Crow. Plus the vocals spread across the spectrum just like Bruce Springsteen. Tabitha's music will impress fans of rock, pop, and alternative music.

Production quality is top notch on this album. Tabitha has teamed up with some of the industry's best producers to create a song that will last for many years in the hearts of the world. It is great to have new music with such emotion and production quality and we have Rubicon Media to thank for putting their faith in Tabitha's music.

Tabitha is a talented musician and played most instruments herself, but also recruited musicians hired from "Fiverr.com" for ukelele, guitar solos and drums.

"Upside Down World", coming in May 2016 to CD Baby, Apple iTunes, and Amazon. The album features 10 originals, including new version of viral Youtube hit, Candyland. The album is produced by rapper/producer Steffen Jurkat and is being released this May on Mind Guard Records (single release date: April 22, 2016).

HAIQEEM | Don't Give A Damn

Texas has a new sound the industry is ready for a new face. Haiqeem (Al Hakeem Muhammad II) hails from Oklahoma City, OK. Yet, Dallas Texas is the origin of his deep roots in the music industry.

The new single, "Don't Give A Damn," from HAIQEEM's upcoming 3-track EP "Without My Permission," has everything that is needed to spark the rock scene and breathe some life back into a deflated and over-compressed music industry. A track that has undeniable potential to break into the music industry and make a permanent mark in the history books. The aggressive hard rock music of this modern musician has remains of the grunge movement from the 90's. All the pieces are in this single and it has a vibe that will propel you from the glory days of the grunge scene right into the present day. With so much music flooding the industry, it's a great relief to hear some original rock music. The world is ready for a new rock musician to come into the fold and bring an edgy sound into our cars & homes.

Endseeker | No Cure For What's Dead

The darkness hides its secrets in the shadows and from those shadows emerges Endseeker. Prepare for your soul to be devoured and consumed by the depths of darkness as Endseeker has released a new EP. No Cure For What's Dead is an EP that takes you on a psychedelic trip through the abyss of the unknown endlessness. The face-melting riffs will consume your ears and make you bang your head with uncontrollable fits of rage.

From beginning to end the EP takes you on a heavy metal ride that keeps your heart pounding and your lungs gasping for air. The composition of the instrumentation is lathered with icy cold hands that reach out from the void and scratch and claw at your flesh. This is truly a collection of songs that deliver no cure for what is dead.

The production quality on this album is excellent. The transient layers and spacial placement of the textures laden in the overtones will make the hairs on the back of your next stand on end. In a downward spiral of the music revolution, Endseeker is definitely a band that separates themselves from the droning noises that other bands call music. The crowning jewel of the EP is the track "Sink to Survive." The song has eerie sounds that lure you into the dark silence of your stereo and then peels out on your face as the drums beat you into oblivion. Just when you think the music is kicking into high gear, the track drives off the cliff and plunges you into the cold darkness below the surface of sea of eternity.

Destined to be heard by millions, Endseeker will likely never find the end of their legacy that will live on until the end of time. No Cure For What's Dead will last the test of time and find an immortal throne among the metal gods. Download a copy of the album and crank it up! Either your neighbors will want to thank you or kill you because there is no way to listen to this album at any volume other than maximum!

MAKS The Fox | HONEY

MAKS The Fox is an orchestral folk pop band from Chicago, IL. Fans of the Love Me Nots will find MAKS The Fox to be the mellow side of your musical cravings. The music is mellow and elegantly composed with female vocals. One of my favorite things about this style of music is that it has an ancient feel that brings emotions up from deep within my soul. A feeling that most modern music can not induce in me or my soul.

The first single of the album is "Honey" and it has that magic that draws you into the music and creates an imaginary world inside your head. As the music and lyrics guide you through imagination, you start to find yourself forgetting about the world around you and you get immersed in the mood of the music. By far this is one of the best new bands emerging from Chicago, IL. If you're luck enough to live the Chicago area, you need to do yourself a big favor and go see MAKS The Fox perform live.

Next shows are coming up in March 2016
House of blues Chicago - March 16th
2 shows at Ohio university Friday March 11 & Saturday March 12

Bio from the band's website:
This creative collective features a unique combination of guitars, keyboard, viola, cello, bass, and drums.  They break away from a more traditional setup and provide their audience with a diverse textural auditory experience.  Singer songwriters Kori Simonson (vocals, guitar, keys) and Marlon Aguilar (vocals, guitar) started as a duo in 2012, and it has gradually grown to include members Sarah Cornish (viola, backup vocals), Rachel Schuldt (cello, bass, backup vocals) and Jacob Fawcett (drums, backup vocals)
Kori & Marlon starting recording songs with Dan Duszynkski (of Gold Motel, Any Kind, & Cross Records) and completed a debut album in 2013 with him.

"From The Deer Forest" will be available in early 2016 and is heavily influenced by the beauty of Chicago.

Red Martian | Slow Motion Samurai

Seattle has a booming music scene and one of the bands that is making headway is Red Martian. The new album, SLOW MOTION SAMURAI, is just another crowning achievement for the seasoned musicians.

The album is like a fine martini that has been shaken, not stirred. There are tones of elegance in the vintage riffs of the guitars. Yet, the album has a remarkably strong modern feel to the composition of the music. Just as bands like Weezer broke ground on establishing a new style of an already popular genre, so does Red Martian take the listener to new heights.

The avant-garde emotion of the album kept me in another frame of mind as each track pulled a new emotion from my consciousness. I like music to travel and move me from the mundane repetition of everyday life. I really like the journey that SLOW MOTION SAMURAI takes me on when I get a moment to zone-out and just sink into the music. A great album for driving, entertaining guests, or just chilling on the beach watching the waves roll in. My favorite track on the album is track #2, Emeraldas. It has a classic sound of the 1970's with the drive and power of modern rock.

SLOW MOTION SAMURAI is currently available for only $6 on Bandcamp.  Go and listen to the album for free on the Bandcamp page. Support musicians by purchasing their music. This is an album that is worthy of multiple plays on your stereo.

The New Position | NOT

Emerging from the carnage of over-saturated media is a difficult thing to do. With so many online radio stations and mobile apps that are streaming music non-stop to the public, it can be very difficult to find good music. I've created this blog to feature some of the musicians that you may have missed in the shuffle.

One band that rises to the top of my list as one of the greatest unknown bands is THE NEW POSITION. As a child of the late 80's and early 90's, I grew up listening to some of the most influential hard rock and alternative music that has shaped our modern society. Bands like Soundgarden, Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, and Metallica are all staples of what paved the way for modern contemporary rock music.

TNP has reinvented the simplicity of heavy rock music with the delicate touch of female vocals. TNP's music of heavy guitar riffs that shred your soul and drum beats that kick you into next week are what lay the foundation for this impressive trio.

Modest Goddess layers her thought provoking vocals over this hard rock music with such grace and elegance. Lyrics that get stuck in your head are the best kind because they strike a chord with your soul. MG's lyrics and vocal talent are not to be over-looked. This band is a hidden gem in the mass confusion of today's music industry. I predict it is only a matter of time before TNP becomes world famous and takes the crown as the reigning hard rock band of this coming decade.

Shimmy Cotter | A Voice of Passion

Shimmy has taken the world by the sound of her sultry voice. Her vocal range is beyond impressive. Her songs resonate deep within her soul and the emotion pours out of her music and captivates the listener. Shimmy is living proof that dreams do come true. As a little girl, Shimmy dreamed of singing professionally on stage. Now at the dawn of her young career, she is getting immediate attention from all over the world. Musicians feel honored to grace the stage with such a versatile vocalist.

This beautiful femme fatal also has a knack for taking home all the chips. Shimmy is an excellent poker shark and can read the best, so she always takes home her fair share of winnings. Her song, "Show Me the River" has become an iconic song in the music world. Leaving nothing to chance, Shimmy has used her fortune to invest in her fame on the stage. She's beautiful, smart, intriguing, and has the element of surprise.

Justin Fawsitt | Preposthumous

It's Thursday and a great day for listening to new music.  My recommendation today is Justin B Fawsitt: https://soundcloud.com/justin-b-f

Justin writes a lot of original music. His style of music blends rock, blues, jazz, fusion, and contemporary pop into a sound that is extremely unique. Born and raised in Ireland, Justin has developed a deep passion for his homeland and it saturates the mood of his music. His years here in the USA have been inspiration to blend the experiences of both lands and develop the character of his tunes with a distinct flare for all the roads he has been down.

We've spent many days in the studio working on recording and mixing his latest album, PREPOSTHUMOUS. If you like the music, you can buy a copy of the CD from Justin's website: http://fawsitt.com/

The CD came out great and would be a great addition to any music collection. Each song has it's own style and will move you!

P.S. Stephanie & I did backing vocals on the track "Two Black Eyes"
